Real winter is here, and I’m not saying any more about the weather.

John and Sue Schaeffer of Sault Ste. Marie were weekend visitors of Thora and Jack Shepard of the village. They divided their time between their home in Brevort and the cottage in Trout Lake.

Melissa Foster and Patti Truman visited over the weekend. Patti is attending college at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie. She is a student in the pre-med program and has been achieving a 3.5 average, plus she works every weekend at Mackinac Straits Hospital. Congratulations to you, Patti.

Lara Gustafson, along with Kristi, Morgan, and Kelsey Will, took in the hockey game at Big Bear Arena this weekend.

Happy birthday to Chuck Ferguson March 2.

Wednesday lunches at Trinity go on as scheduled. Lunch is served at noon. This week Pega is serving vegetable soup with homemade bread and a surprise dessert, meaning I don’t know what the dessert is for this week, but it will be good.

Nothing going on at Jim and Ann Dyer’s, except digging out of the snow.

Mark and Brenda Spencer attended the gift show in Grand Rapids over the weekend. Brenda has paintings and other craft items for sale.

Another potluck at Grandma Mildred Gustafson’s. This time was to celebrate Pega Kennedy’s birthday. Celebrants present were Pega and John Kennedy, Tom and Joyce Gustafson, Sharon and Ken Smith, Lara, Morgan, and Kristi Lynn Gustafson, and Pat Cranson.

Dr. and Mrs. Jeff Mitchinson and family, Leland, Shelby, and Olivia, spent the long weekend at the family cottage known as the Rev’s Retreat on Worth Road. The highlight was skating at Little Bear on Saturday.

Happy birthday to Ted Lebutski of Church Road. Ted and Pat’s daughter, Tricia Meteva of Midland, was a visitor at their home recently. We were talking about the weather, and weather is no surprise to Ted, as he lived in Marquette at one time and remembers snow in July one year, to which the weatherman referred as “soft ice.”

Sharon and Ken Smith, with Pega and John Kennedy, journeyed to Gaylord for some prime sale shopping on Saturday. They hit some good bargains.

Dot Glashaw went to the spaghetti dinner in St. Ignace. It was a fundraiser for the all-night graduation party this spring.

Lee Quigley will soon start on her trip to China. We wish you a safe trip and look forward to when you get back with stories of your adventures.

It is warming up outside. Maybe time for a little walk. Yippee, yippee.
