One Engadine student was successful in the second round of the 2005 Straits Area and UPCEA Spelling Bee in St. Ignace, where our local winners competed Monday, February 14. Ryne Ozanich took second place in the eighth grade competition. The next competition will be Wednesday, February 23, in Sault Ste Marie.

The third, fourth, and fifth grades were immersed in Michigan history through the presentation of Michilimackinac State Historical Parks interpreters. The “French Voyageur” and the “British Soldier” showed the students what life was like for the men and women of the late 17th and early 18th century at forts in the St. Ignace area. The highlight was dancing to the musical instruments of the period, and the firing of the big gun. What a wonderful learning experience.

The Engadine/ Naubinway Knights of Columbus donated $244.82 to Engadine Consolidated Schools. This money was raised through the Knights of Columbus annual Tootsie Roll Sale.
