Alan Dale CoullardAlan Dale Coullard Alan Dale Coullard of Kelden worked for the United States Postal Service from 1973 to 2000, when ill health forced him to retire. He was a letter carrier and then worked in building maintenance for many years in the Sault Ste. Marie post office. He was Past President of the Sault Ste. Marie Branch and Area 11 Director of the Michigan Postal Workers Union.

Mr. Coullard died at the age of 56, Thursday, February 17, 2005, at his home.

He was born January 17, 1949, in Detroit, to Ernest E. and Helen Irene (nee Schwiderson) Coullard.

Mr. Coullard was reared in Sault Ste. Marie and Kelden, and was graduated from Pickford High School in 1967. He served in the United States Navy for four years, from 1968 to 1972.

He married Janet Faye Libby at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Barbeau, April 12, 1969.

Mr. Coullard was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and the St. Mary's River Sportsman's Club.

He loved living in the Upper Peninsula, and enjoyed fishing, and hunting, cutting, and piling firewood. He also enjoyed working in his garage, watching football, and helping with activities at church.

Mr. Coullard is survived by his wife, Janet; three sons and their families, Anthony Dale and Rhonda Coullard of Barbeau, and Leo Alan Coullard and Louis Phillip Coullard, both of Kelden; four grandchildren, Jessica, Phillip, David, and Jonathan Coullard; his mother, Helen Coullard of Kelden, and his brother and his family, Donald and Shelly Coullard of Dafter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest.

Visitation was Tuesday, February 22, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Barbeau.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated Tuesday, February 22, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Father John Hascall was the celebrant.

Interment will be in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Barbeau.
