Frances Ann Gregg of Burton was a former Hessel resident and a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Mrs. Gregg died at the age of 72 Thursday, February 17, 2005, at her home.

She was born to Michael and Grace Baker May 2, 1932, in Hessel.

She married Richard Gregg December 15, 1956, in Hessel.

She was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Burton.

Mrs. Gregg is survived by her husband, Richard; her children and their families, Gail White and Robert McCallister of Burton, Jeanne and Raul of Tamez of Grand Blanc, Billie Jo and Russ Cook of Burton, and Heather Gregg of Grand Blanc; grandchildren and their families, Stacy and James, Sara, Tristin, Lindsey, Travis, Skylar, Cree, and Sage; great-grandchildren, Whitney, Kelsey, Keith, Jade, Star, and Laci; a brother and his family, Conrad and Ellen Baker of Mount Morris; a sister and her family, Jeanne and Frank Bachula of Bridgeport; a nephew and his family, Hank and Virginia Stevenson of Mount Clemens, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Grace Baker, and her granddaughters, Angel and Faith Eagle Bear.

Traditional American Indian ceremonies were held at the Hessel Tribal Community Center Sunday, February 20.

A traditional sunrise ceremony Monday morning, February 21, at the Hessel Tribal Center, was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Hessel. Brother John Hascall was the celebrant.

Spring burial will be in the Father Marquette Cemetery in Hessel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Gregg family.

Ross Funeral Home of Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
