Three LHS Grads Play Final Game at LSSU
Three former LaSalle High School graduates, Randi Johnson, Steve MacDonald, and Jim Clement, played their final home game at LSSU. The seniors, with their parents, were honored between games Saturday, February 19, and include (from left) Elaine, Mark, and Steve MacDonald, Mike, Randi, and Neva Johnson, and Scott, Jim, and Diggy Clement.
Three former LaSalle High School graduates, Randi Johnson, Steve MacDonald, and Jim Clement, played their final home at Lake Superior State University Saturday, February 19.
The Lady Lakers defeated Northern Michigan University 69-65, as Randi Johnson scored 17 points, including two free throws to ice the win.
Former Saint standout Holly Cole scored five points for the Wildcats.
The LSSU men downed the Wildcats 64-61 as Jim Clement scored 26, with 20 in the second half, and Steve MacDonald added six points and played an outstanding floor game to lead the Lakers.
Randi Johnson Earns Academic
All-American Honors
Randi Johnson, with a 3.836 grade-point average in elementary education, was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Second Team Women's Basketball College Division II Team.
Previous Week
In the previous week’s action, the LSSU women split two GLIAC games, defeating Ferris State 78-64, but dropping their first conference contest of the season at Grand Valley 80-64.
In the win over the Bulldogs, Becky Marquardt-King scored 19 points, Randi Johnson added 14 with six assists, Monica Rehmann chipped in 12, and Mandi Johnson notched 11 and eight rebounds.
In the setback to Grand Valley, Becky Marquardt-King scored 18 points, Randi Johnson added 13, and Mandi Johnson chipped in nine with six boards.
