Trojans Clinch EUPC Title Share ...
Cedarville and Pickford battled to a 22-22 halftime score, but the Trojans, 6-1 in the league, outscored the Panthers 42-21 in the second half to post a 64-43 win and clinch a share of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference championship Tuesday, February 15. Friday, February 18, the Green and White defeated Big Bay de Noc 76-62 in a non-conference contest, for a 13-5 overall mark.
The Trojans looked to clinch the title outright in their Tuesday, February 21 game at Engadine. Brimley is a half-game back at 6-2, but has completed their EUPC schedule.
Ross Hansen scored 24 points to lead the Trojans over Pickford, while Jeff Slater added 14, Chad Schlosser chipped in 10, Ryan Duman notched six, Alex Altmaier tallied four, and Trevor Sigman and Dustin Tassier both charted two.
James Snyder led the Panthers with 14 points. Matt Romatz and Richie Boal added 11, Jon Clegg, Pat Savoie, and Chris Thompson chipped in two apiece, and Jon Snider tallied one.
Both teams notched 11 points in each of the first two quarters, for a 22-22 halftime score.
Cedarville turned the tide with a 15-0 run that included a 6-0 run to end the third quarter for a 42-35 lead, and the Trojans continued with nine consecutive points to open the final period for a 51-35 advantage, and closed out the EUPC contest with a 13-8 margin.
Trojans Tame Black Bears
Ross Hansen scored 29 points with six steals, and Jeff Slater added 19 points and 13 rebounds, to lift the Trojans over the Black Bears.
Ryan Duman chipped in six, Ryan Smith, Chad Schlosser, and Alex Altmaier notched five, Justin Benson tallied four, Jordan Sweeney charted two, and Nathan Smith marked one.
The Trojans held an 18-15 margin after the first quarter, before the Black Bears sent the teams into halftime with a 30-29 lead, after a 15-11 margin in the second period.
Cedarville regrouped and outscored Big Bay de Noc 47-32 in the second half, that included 26-12 in the third quarter, and completed the game with a 21-20 scoring edge in the final period.
The Trojans close out the season with a home encounter with Posen Friday, February 25, with Parents Night at the John Duncan Gymnasium.
Trojans JV Remain Perfect
Cedarville junior varsity remains undefeated after an 86-47 win over Big Bay de Noc, as Justin Baker scored 23 points, Jordan Duncan added 18, and Jason Duncan chipped in 12.
