Lady Saints 4-8 at SAC Meet

St. Ignace volleyball team finished with a 4-8 mark during the Straits Area Conference Meet Saturday, February 19, at Rogers City.
The Lady Saints defeated Lincoln-Alcona 25-22 and 27-25, split with Sault High 25-11 and 23-25, and Rudyard 25-22 and 15-25, and were defeated by the host Hurons, 11-25 and 15-25, Cheboygan, 20-25 and 15-25, and Newberry, 19-25 and 23-25.
On the day, Liz Stempki led St. Ignace with 71 service points, six aces, 114 good passes, 106 attacks, 38 kills, 18 digs, 15 sets, and two blocks. Carlie Levi added 51 points, six aces, 110 attacks, 79 good passes, 13 sets, 11 kills, nine digs, and two blocks. Ashley St. Louis chipped in 33 points, one ace, 79 good passes, 43 attacks, 31 sets, 11 digs, nine kills, and five blocks. Andrea Spring notched 16 points, five aces, 61 good passes, 21 attacks, 10 sets, eight digs, three blocks, and two kills. Erica Ahlich tallied nine points, one ace, 298 sets, 42 good passes, 20 attacks, and 16 digs. Krista LaVake charted eight points, 35 good passes, seven digs, four sets, and four attacks. Sam Wyers recorded six points, six attacks, five sets, and two kills. Rebecca Weiss marked two points, 10 good passes, and one attack, and Tabitha Wright registered 10 good passes and one dig.
Rogers City won the SAC championship, followed by Cheboygan, Rudyard, Newberry, St. Ignace, Sault High, and Lincoln-Alcona.
The Saints will compete in the districts at Rudyard Saturday, February 26. In the opener, Newberry will battle Manistique at 4 p.m., while the host Bulldogs and the Saints will tangle in the second contest, with the championship match to follow.
