Perry Records 300th Win at Rudyard

Head Coach Ellen PerryHead Coach Ellen Perry Coach Ellen Perry of the Rudyard volleyball varsity program recorded her 300th career win after her Lady Bulldogs defeated Newberry in four matches Monday, February 14.

The Lady Bulldogs lost the first match, 20-25, before winning three straight, 25-18, 25-23, and 25-23.

Brenda Burby was perfect from the serving line (18 for 18) and added 10 kills and 10 digs. Dana VanSloten chipped in 11 kills and five blocks. Summers Captain notched 27 assists and 10 digs. Jillian LeBlanc tallied 14 digs, and Ashley Hesselink charted 10 digs.

"In my 12 years of coaching, I’ve been very fortunate to have hard working, dedicated young ladies and a cooperate coaching staff who makes sure everyone has meaningful playing time at the middle school level," said Coach Perry. "Our first job is to teach kids how to love volleyball and teamwork, and focus on winning later, at the upper level competition."

Perry’s squads have won five regional championships, a state crown in 1996, and five athletes moved on to play at the collegiate level.
