Women Today, Inc., an interdenominational ministry, will hold its 32nd annual retreat Friday, April 22, through Sunday, April 24, at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie. For more information, call Louella Snow at (906) 595-7509.
The U.P. Regional Blood Center, a service of Marquette General Hospital, will hold a blood drive Thursday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., at Newberry High School. For an appointment, call Judy Haupt at (906) 293-3243, extension 1119.
The Engadine All-Class Reunion Committee will meet Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m., in the Engadine school cafeteria. All graduates, teachers, and students of Engadine are encouraged to attend.
The McMillan Lodge 400 free and accepted Masons will be performing "Adopt-A-Highway" cleanup Saturday, April 23. Masons should meet at 9 a.m. at the junction of M-28 and M-117.
Consolidated Community School Services will hold a job fair Saturday, April 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Comfort Inn in Newberry. For more information, call (906) 293-3282.

The Big Mack Pack Snowmobile Club will hold its annual smelt fry Saturday, April 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Cove Bar in Naubinway. Crispy smelt, salad bar, and desserts will be available. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children age five to 12. Sneaky Peat will follow by fiddling in the new season from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The Tahquamenon Area Sportsmans Club will hold its 49th Annual "Kid's Tackle Party" Saturday, April 23, at Newberry High School. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. There will be prizes and entertainment and lunch will be provided for children six through 14 years of age. Adults must purchase a meal ticket. All children must be in the company of an adult.
The Healthy Lifestyles Group will meet Monday, April 25, at 4:30 p.m., at the Mackinac Straits Clinic in Naubinway.
The 3rd Annual Appraisal Fair and Silent Auction will be held Saturday, April 30, at 9 a.m., in the Engadine High School gymnasium. Doug LaFoille and staff of the Auction Block will again provide their expertise for the appraisals. There is no limit on items for appraisal. A 50/50 raffle will also be conducted. Donated items for the silent auction will support the students, athletes, and coaches. Items an be brought to Engadine School's main office or call (906) 477-6449. Engadine Sports Boosters and the Engadine Consolidated Schools Foundation for educational excellence are sponsoring this event.
Naubinway's 13th Annual Smelt Fest will be held Saturday, April 30, on U.S. 2, five miles east of Naubinway. Starting time is 11 a.m., raising the official smelt capital of the U.P. flag at Johnny B's Italian Garden. There will be a scavenger hunt for all ages and you will want to sign up your group to win cash prizes. New and old useable items (no clothes or mattresses) are welcome. Items can be dropped off at Beaudoin's Marathon Station in Naubinway or at Johnny B's by 11 a.m., Sunday, April 24. Call (906) 477-1001 if you have items that need to be picked up.
A smelters poker rally will also be going on. Register at the Pine Bar and Beary Patch Restaurant in Engadine, the Rexton General Store, the Cut River Inn at Epoufette, and at King's Fish Market, Beaudoin's Marathon, Cove Bar, Hog Island Store, and Johnny B's in Naubinway. Best poker hand wins. Details are on the registration form. This will be an enjoyable day for all ages. This event is sponsored by the Naubinway-Engadine Merchants Association, Inc.
Marv Germain, raffle chairman for the recent Feneley-McNeil-Nesbit American Legion Post 290 spring raffle, appreciates those who purchased tickets. First place winner of a 2005 Suzuki LT Eiger 4x4 was Bob Eastman of Newberry. Second place winner of a Raddison canoe was Don Goudreau of Trout Lake and third place winner of $200 worth of food at Vallier's Grocery Store was Evelyn Selby of Naubinway.
