The Red Hat Society Convention, the fate of which had been in doubt because early registration was lower than expected, is scheduled to take place as originally planned, said Kelly Simmons, executive director of the St. Ignace Visitors’ Bureau. Red Hatters will be in St. Ignace June 3 and 4.

The convention will include a Satin Sandals Golf Scramble, pajama party cruise, euchre tournament, and fashion show. To participate, call Ms. Simmons at the Visitors Bureau, 643-8717.

A national organization, the Red Hat Society is for women who want to “embrace aging with style and humor.” Members wear red hats and purple clothing. Chapters of the society have adapted the free-form organization to fit their needs, with each group focusing on varied interests including civic projects, travel, or tea parties.
