Brevort Township Wants To Renew Three Millages
Brevort Township voters will be asked May 3 to renew millages for county road improvement, library, community center operations, and fire department operations and capital improvement. The taxes are levied on taxable real and tangible personal property.
The five-year millages will be the same as voters approved May 8, 2001 – three mills for road improvement, two mills for the fire department, and one mill for the library and community center.
“This is for our basic operating expenses that have been with the township for years,” said Supervisor Ed Serwach. “We need it to put gravel and chloride on our gravel roads and run our fire department, library, and community center.”
He said it’s tough to ask for millages, even if they’re renewals, when things like gasoline cost so much.
The millages are for four years and, if passed, will provide $73,902 for road improvement, $49,268 for the fire department, and $24,634 for the library and community center operations during the first year.
