The Mackinaw Area Historical Society will learn about the foundings and mergings of the Methodist and Presbyterian churches at its monthly meeting Monday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the library in Mackinaw City.

Speakers will be Archie Cosens and Ken Teysen.

The first Protestant church service in the city was in 1870. The Presbyterian Church, with a 123-year history, and the Methodist Church, with a 117-year history, merged 43 years ago into Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City.
