Victor Beaune Sr.
Victor J. Beaune Sr., 59, of Brimley and Mackinac Island, died Friday afternoon, April 29, 2005, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor following a short illness.
He was born May 10, 1945, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Edward and Lottie (nee McPhee) Beaune.
Mr. Beaune worked for Mackinac Island Carriage Tours for 41 years, starting when he was 18. He was in maintenance and was also a farrier.
Mr. Beaune married Margaret “Terry” LaPine of Mackinac Island December 22, 1970, in Newberry, and she survives. He is also survived by a son, Victor Jr. of Mackinac Island; two daughters, Tina Beaune of Sault Ste. Marie and Nicole Beaune of Mackinac Island; five brothers and their families, Eugene and Mary Jane of Mason, Edward and Jean of Grand Ledge, William and Gloria of Kinross, Joseph of Holt, and Thomas and Linda of Sunfield; a sister, Ann Schnepp of New York; and eight grandchildren, Christopher, Aaron, Jessica, Samuel, Jonathon, Alysia, Elizabeth, and James.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret and Theresa; a brother, Phillip; and a son, Wesley John Beaune, who died in an automobile accident September 26, 2002.
Friends called at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace Tuesday, May 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with prayers at 8 p.m. with Deacon Don Olmstead officiating. Services will be Wednesday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Jim Williams of Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church officiating.
Cremation will follow and burial will be at Ste. Anne’s Cemetery on Mackinac Island at a later date.
