Saints Jr. High Track Results
St. Ignace junior high girls track team finished second and the boys placed third during a home meet at Kiwanis Field Thursday, April 28.
Sault High won the boys division with 218 points, the Saints followed with 106, then Ellsworth 74, Rudyard 48, and Newberry 47.
The Lady Blue Devils tallied 131 to win the girls meet, followed by Ellsworth with 124, the Lady Saints 114, Newberry 101, and Rudyard 47.
The Lady Saints were led by four first places as Chelsea Swope won the 1600 run, Maggie Levi the pole vault, the 800 relay team of Danielle Ford, Katie Garries, Anesha Lucas, and Kristen Olsen won, and the 3200 relay foursome of Ashley Kasper, Ford, Swope, and Olsen won first.
Placing second was Amanda Coveyou in the 400 dash and high jump, Kristen Olsen in the 800 run, and the 400 and 1600 relay teams, while Dana Schieding took third in the 1600, and Anesha Lucas third in the 100 dash.
Kayla Gustin finished fourth in the high hurdles, fifth in the long jump, and sixth in the 200; Ashley Kasper fifth in the 70 dash; Molly Therrian fifth in the shot put; sixth, Sara Tafelski in the 200 dash; Emily Sposito in the 3200 run, and Samantha Radecki in the long jump.
Saints Boys Shatter Two Marks
Anthony Lester shattered the junior high jump record with a height of 5'3" and the 800-relay team of Kyle Smock, Gerrit Mortensen, Ronnie France, and Anthony Lester set a new school mark with a time of 1:51.93 to lead the boys squad.
Stefan Saffian won the 70 dash and finished second in the 200; Rob Robinson in the pole vault and fourth in the 200; Eric Hinsman second in the long jump, fifth in the high hurdles, and sixth in the low hurdles; Tyler Oja second in the pole vault and sixth in the high hurdles; Kyle Smock second in the shot put, and the 400 relay team took second.
Kaden Shiemke finished third in the 3200, the 1600 and 3200 relay teams placed third, Billy Grogan fourth in the 1600, and Michael Wilk fifth in the 400.
