Cedarville, Pickford Girls Tie; Panther Boys Win at Brimley
Cedarville’s and Pickford’s girls’ teams tied and the Panther boys finished first during a meet at Brimley with teams from the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference.
The Lady Trojans and Lady Panthers tallied 133 points each, followed by the host Lady Bays with 88, Engadine 80, and DeTour 57.
Cedarville and Pickford each won five events as Lauren Izzard won in the 800, Kristen Duman won in the high hurdles, Shayna Rohrer won in the discus, and the Lady Trojans 1600 and 3200 relay teams won. For the Lady Panthers, Caitlin Mortinsen was a triple winner in the 200, 400, and long jump, Courtney Bruni took the low hurdles, and the 400 relay team won.
Molly McIntyre won the high jump and the Lady Bays won the 800 relay. Shauni Rutledge won the shot put, Elicia Derusha finished first in the 1600 for the Lady Eagles, and Amber Burton won the 3200 run for the Lady Raiders.
Panthers Outlast Host Bays
Pickford, with five first-place finishes, scored 144 points to outlast the host Bays with six victories, followed by Cedarville with 90, Engadine 86, and DeTour 35.
Carl Morrison won the 800 and 1600 runs, Chris Thompson placed first in the 400, and the Panthers 1600 and 3200 relay teams won, while for Brimley Josh Winkler won the discus and shot put, Ryan Freedman the 100 dash, Jerrod Dillon the 200, and the Bays 400 and 800 relay teams.
Ryan Duman won the high jump and Sheldon Tassier the 3200 for the Trojans, and for Engadine Grayson Hood finished first in the high and low hurdles and Stefen Albright won the long jump.
