St. Ignace baseball team snapped its six-game losing streak with a doubleheader win over Pickford/Cedarville 6-2 in the opener and 5-4 in the nightcap Thursday, April 28, at LaSalle High School.
The offense was spread around for Coach Lou Grondin as Tyler Huskey recorded two hits and scored one run, Tim Mullen had one RBI and scored one run, Zach Schroeder scored two runs, and Louie Mullins and Troy Garlock scored one run. Kyle Spencer pitched five complete innings and struck out seven.
In the nightcap, the Saints trailed 4-2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before Tyler Huskey's triple knocked in two runs to tie the game. Kyle O'Boyle was walked and, attempting to steal second, was caught in a run-down. During the situation Huskey scored from third for the winning run.
Along with the triple and two RBI's, Huskey scored two runs and stole one base, John Paul Herbon tallied two hits, and Zach Schroeder drew three walks, while Tim Mullen added one hit and scored one run. He pitched six complete innings with four strikeouts.
