4-H Summer Neighborhood Clubs
by Paula Ramelis,MSU Extension
Join us for a day of fun as we visit a neighborhood community each Thursday beginning July 7 for six weeks. Activities will begin at each site at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. This club is open to ages 5 to 11, teen leaders ages 12 to 19, and adult volunteer.
Participants will need to bring a sack lunch and $2 per day per person. An afternoon snack will be provided by our Family Nutrition Educator, Mary Pemble-Swiderski.
The fun begins July 7 in Naubinway. “Just Clowning Around” will be a day of making costumes, painting our faces like clowns, learning clown tricks, and skits. Participants need to bring a white tee shirt.
July 14 in Gould City “Animal Science” will be a day of learning about wolves, building duck nesting boxes, and a wagon ride with a team of mules. A scavenger hunt will take us from the town hall to the mules and back.
July 21 in Curtis “Hands On” will be a day of basket weaving (must be 9 years old and up) fly tying, paper mache piñatas, modeling clay, and kites.
July 28 in Garnet/Rexton “Let’s Play” will be a day of learning why the umpire calls what he calls, an old fashioned baseball game, cheerleading, hopscotch, jump rope, and possibly golf.
August 4 in Engadine “Science Day” will be a day of fun experiments, looking for and at bugs, and make big bubbles.
August 11 will be a potluck meal in the evening with all participants and their families. We will decide the location as the time gets nearer.
Registration is necessary by Friday, July 1. You may do this by calling me at (906) 477-6390, or by e-mail at ramelis@msu.edu.
