St. Ignace Youth Baseball Leagues Begin Action
The St. Ignace city youth baseball league began Monday, June 13, at the McCann baseball field.
There are three leagues this year, tee ball, girls coach-pitch, and boys coach-pitch. The tee ball league (ages four to six) has five teams, the girls league (ages seven to 10) has three teams, and the boys league (ages six to eight) has four.
Tee ball games are every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Girls coach-pitch games are every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:45 p.m. Boys coach-pitch game are every Monday and Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
Tee ball coaches include Candy DeKeyser (A’s), Allison Fitzgerald (Braves), Michelle Hiser (Reds), Chris “Iffer” Marshall (Saints), and Karl Yoder (Tigers).
Girls team coaches are Willie LaLonde (A’s), Mark Sposito (Saints), and Pat LaFreniere (Braves).
Boys team coaches include Landon Snyder (Tigers), Scott Marshall (A’s), Don Gustafson (Reds), and Sean Tallaire (Cardinals).
The Community Consolidated School Services youth baseball league begins Monday, June 20, at LaSalle High School baseball field. Teams range from boys fastball pitch senior youth (ages 12 to 14), and boys fastball pitch junior youth (ages 9 to 11), to girls fast pitch softball (ages 11 to 14). Four teams from St. Ignace are represented in the league.
St. Ignace has two teams in the boys junior youth level and one team each in the other levels. The junior youth level has seven teams, the senior youth level has five teams, and the girls youth level has three teams.
