Mrs. Pope and Mrs. Matelski, who are both teachers, are sisters. Mrs. Pope taught Sarah Smith in second grade last year, while Mrs. Matelski taught Sarah’s mother, Tammy Smith, in second grade years ago at St. Ignace Area Schools.
