The Michigan High School Athletic Association announces the tournament schedule for fall sports, with changes for Lower Peninsula boys golf that includes the Straits Area Conference members.

Golf will see the addition of a district level competition in the postseason tourney for the boys. The change was made to help reduce the field reaching the finals of the event to the same size as the girls tourney in the spring. In addition, no cuts will be made in the two-day final event for teams and individuals.

Lower Peninsula

Boys Golf

Districts will be either Thursday, September 29, Friday, September 30, or Saturday, October 1. Regionals will be Thursday, October 6, Friday, October 7, or Saturday, October 8, and finals Friday, October 14, and Saturday, October 15. The Saints and Bulldogs districts will be at Boyne Highlands and if the teams advance the regionals are in Traverse City.

Boys Soccer

The soccer rules change will see taunting become a more serious violation, resulting in a hard red card requiring the ejection of the player from the game, without being replaced.

Districts will be from Monday, October 24, to Saturday, October 29, with regionals Tuesday, November 1, to Saturday, November 5, semifinals Wednesday, November 9, and finals Saturday, November 12.

Upper Peninsula Cross Country

The finals in the Upper Peninsula for all divisions will be in Houghton Saturday, October 22.

Girls Basketball

Districts for all classes will be from Monday, November 14, to Saturday, November 19, with regionals Monday, November 21, through Wednesday, November 23, quarterfinals Tuesday, November 29, and the final four Thursday, December 1, through Saturday, December 3.

Football

Selection Sunday for the MHSAA division playoffs is Sunday, October 23, followed by pre-districts Friday, October 28, or Saturday, October 29, district finals Friday, November 4 or Saturday, November 5, regional finals Friday, November 11, and Saturday, November 12, semifinals Saturday, November 19, and finals at Ford Field in Detroit Friday, November 25, and Saturday, November 26.
