Veteran Coach Miller To Lead 10 Returning Players

The DeTour Raiders Varsity Girls Basketball team includes Coach Dave Miller and players Erin Worden-10, Amber Burton-12, Marah Fierek-14, Kelley Tomlinson-20, Janelle Klamerus-22, Liz Lehman-24, Anne Goetz-30, Jessie Tominac-32, Missy Ellis-40, Neeske Beckmann-42, Krystal Bosley-44, and Pia Hoge-50.The DeTour Raiders Varsity Girls Basketball team includes Coach Dave Miller and players Erin Worden-10, Amber Burton-12, Marah Fierek-14, Kelley Tomlinson-20, Janelle Klamerus-22, Liz Lehman-24, Anne Goetz-30, Jessie Tominac-32, Missy Ellis-40, Neeske Beckmann-42, Krystal Bosley-44, and Pia Hoge-50. Veteran Coach Dave Miller will have the luxury of having the largest number of returnees in the area in preparation for the 2005 season.

The Raiders have 10 girls, seven in their third season and three in their second year returning, along with two foreign exchange students.

Returning letter winners with three years experience are seniors Anne Goetz (forward), Janelle Klamerus (center/forward), and Jessie Tominac (forward) and juniors Krystal Bosley (center), Amber Burton (guard/forward), Liz Lehman (forward), and Erin Worden (guard).

Second-year players are senior Marah Fierek (forward) and juniors Missy Ellis (forward/center) and Kelly Tomlinson (guard). Two senior exchange students from Germany will join the Raiders, Pia Hoge, hosted by Dave and Francis “Sas” Miller, and Neeske Beckmann, hosted by Alex and Linda Fisher.

"We have a veteran team with experience," said Coach Miller. "We will contend for the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference title with this group of girls."

Coach Miller, who has coached the only girls Class D state championship team in the Eastern Upper Peninsula, will prepare the Raiders for the upcoming season that is one of the strongest in the last 10 years.

"After having a young club for the last three years, this should be our season. We must work hard and come ready to play each game," Coach Miller said.

DeTour will battle Cedarville, Engadine, Pickford, and Brimley for the league crown and tangle with Mackinaw City, Vanderbilt, Hillman, Big Bay de Noc, Alanson, Gaylord St. Mary, Onaway, Boyne Falls, and Harbor Light Christian in non-league match-ups.
