Cedarville Trojans Varsity Football team includes Head Coach Randy Schaedig and Assistant Coaches Scott Barr, Duncan Martin, and Dennis Polk, and players Dennis Malkowski-52, Aaron Bright-55, Matt Manley-13, Cory Wellnitz-32, Michael Thompson-81, Gary Kott-26, Alex Smith-40, Joe Currie-73, Luca Izzard-80, Peter Treleaven-22, Jordan Sweeney-11, Justin Baker-32, Jimmy Eberts-82, Keith Foster-78, Matt Hansen-59, Kevin Leach-77, Michael Pollard-62, and Devon Wilson-36. Veteran coach Randy Schaedig lost 12 seniors to graduation who qualified for the playoffs and will build this year’s Trojans team with nine returning players, seven from Cedarville and two from DeTour.

This will be the first year that Cedarville and DeTour will take advantage of the Michigan High School Athletic Association co-op program on the gridiron.

The Trojans’ returnees include seniors Aaron Bright at offensive and defensive tackle, Matt Manley at flanker and corner, Cory Wellnitz at offensive and defensive end and Michael Thompson at flanker and corner, and juniors Justin Baker and halfback and safety Joe Currie at guard and defensive tackle, and Michael Pollard at halfback and corner.

The two former Raiders playing for the green and white are seniors Gary Kott at fullback and linebacker and Alex Smith at guard and nose guard.

First-year varsity players include Andrew Reynolds at flanker and corner, Lucas Izzard at flanker and corner, Peter Trealeven at quarterback and safety, Jordan Sweeney at quarterback and safety, Nick Goetz at offensive and defensive tackle, Jimmy Eberts at flanker and corner, Keith Foster at center and nose guard, Matt Hansen at guard and linebacker, Kevin Leach at offensive and defensive tackle, Austin Walker at offensive and defensive tackle, and Devon Wilson at fullback and linebacker.

"We have a strong roster with 21 players, but it will take time on the practice field to come together," said Coach Schaedig. "We lost some talented seniors last year, but I feel this group will pick up the slack."

The Trojans will battle for the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference title along with Brimley, Pickford, and Engadine while facing non-league opponents that include Posen, St. Basil, Rapid River, Mid Peninsula, and Bark River-Harris.
