September is here and children are back to school. Where did the summer go? They say time flies fast when you’re having fun, and with the wonderful summer we had, I can see why it flew by fast.

The Curtis Centennial Celebration will be Friday, September 2, through Sunday, September 4, at the Curtis Park. Many things are planned, from history tours, food vendors, all-class reunion, music concerts, children’s games, along with Tommy Vale and the Torpedoes, Bill Haley’s Comets, including fireworks at 9 p.m. Friday, September 2. Saturday, September 3, Curtis will host its Sixth Annual Art on the Lake, with more than 70 art exhibitors, music, food, and children’s art tent. Don’t miss the Lions brunch Sunday, September 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Curtis Town Hall Community Building. Enjoy music, worship, food, and fun throughout the day. Our daughter, Meggan, married Ray Morrison at a beautiful wedding Sunday, August 21. We’re so happy for them and proud to have a new son-in-law. Since I didn’t get a chance to write the news last week, I would like to send a special belated birthday to our son, Travis Freeman, who turned 25 Tuesday, August 30. It’s hard to believe he’s a quarter of a century old already. Children grow up fast.

Happy birthday to Natasha King September 1, Lindsey Bell, Abigail Miller, and Renee Sullivan September 2, Hugh Chaffin September 3, Nathanael Miller and Sandy Livermore September 4, John “Casey” Ketcher III September 5, and Andrew Davis and Mary A. Germain September 6.
