Without a doubt, the most exciting events this weekend are the county fair in Newberry and the 100th year celebration in Curtis.

Donations for the Sharrett family of Newberry are being handled by the LINK. For more information, call (906) 293-1530.

The Curtis Centennial Celebration is Friday, September 2, through Sunday, September 4. There will be lots of celebrations, entertainment, and arts and crafts all over town.

There will be a Durham Ranch Craft Show Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Little Bear Arena in Manistique. They’re asking crafters to apply for table space early.

Tables are $25 for one day or $45 for two days. Corner tables are $28 for one day and $50 for two days. All vendors are asked to have homemade articles.

For more information, please contact Dorie France at (906) 477-9476 or Debbie Clifton at (906) 644-2639.

They’re asking for a $1 donation at the door for 12 years to adult. All proceeds go to Durham Ranch Sanctuary and Youth at Risk Program. They’re raising funds for the indoor arena.

A car show and antique and vintage snowmobile show is being held in Manistique Saturday, September 3, on South Cedar Street. Dash plaques and casino packages go to the first 120 entrants.

There also will be cash prizes of $25 to each first place winner. A Kid's Tractor Pull, an Elks Chicken Barbecue, and contests will be going on all day long. A Friday night cruise is planned with lineup at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeshore Shell on US-2 in Manistique.

Call the Chamber Office at (906) 341-5010 for more information.

You and your dog are invited to "Take a Hike (with a dog you like) at the Four Paws Walk" on Manistique’s beautiful waterfront boardwalk.

Come and walk, run, or stroll with your pets before or after you check out the cars in the downtown area. Please have your pets leashed and have baggies to clean up after your animal. All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Schoolcraft County and the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter.

Pledge sheets are available at Curran Cheverolet, WTIQ Radio Station Co. Rd 442, the Animal Shelter East US-2, and at the registration table in the Marina Park the day of the walk. Pledges and/or donations will be accepted.

Ann Marie's is having a mini car show featuring Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Tonka, and other models Saturday, September 3. Prizes will be awarded.

Happy birthday to John Ketcher September 5.
