The body of 34-year-old Lana Stempien was recovered in Lake Huron, about a quarter mile north of Hammond Bay Marina near Rogers City by a Michigan State Police Underwater Recovery Unit Wednesday, August 24.
Ms. Stempien, of Detroit, had been missing, along with Chuck Rutherford of Detroit, since their boat was found two miles off the southeast shore of Marquette Island in the Les Cheneaux Islands Friday, August 12. Hammond Bay is roughly 40 nautical miles from the Les Cheneaux area.
