Soo Locks Brings To Close 150th Anniversary Celebration
Closing ceremonies for the Soo Locks 150th Anniversary celebration will be Friday, September 2, with an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A free show from noon to 2 p.m. will depict pre-colonial history to the late 1900s. Music, storytelling, and dance will be featured in the family-oriented show by performers from around the state.
Governor Jennifer Granholm will be among speakers at a closing ceremony from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Speakers will also include Senator Carl Levin, Senator Debbie Stabenow, Representative Bart Stupak, Army Corp District Engineer Lt. Col. Lauzon, Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Chairman Aaron Payment, and Sault Ste. Marie Mayor Anthony Bosbous.
At the end of the ceremony, a time capsule will be buried.
The Dodworth Saxhorn Band will perform at an Anniversary Ball from 6 p.m. to midnight.
