Pickford Rolls to 30-0 Win Over Rapid River

Jason King Pickford offense gained more than 300 yards and the Panthers defense held Rapid River to under 100 yards of offense en route to a 30-0 non-conference win over the Rockets Friday, August 26.

"I was pleased with our overall play," said Panthers Coach Josh Rader. "Our defense rose to the occasion, but we did make mistakes that hurt us. There is room for improvement."

The Panthers scored single touchdowns in the first and second quarters and added two scores in the third period.

Richie Boal scored from two yards out at the 4:45 mark of the first quarter and Caleb Rader added the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.

Jon Clegg Jon Clegg and Boal combined on a 57-yard scoring pass at 9:19 of the second quarter and Rader chipped in the conversion to build the Panthers’ lead to 16-0 at halftime.

Rader scored two touchdowns from one yard out in the third quarter and Boal chipped in one conversion run. Toby Kibble notched the second extra two points.

Rader rushed for 101 yards on 18 carries. Boal added 68 yards on 10 attempts, Alan Orr chipped in 53 yards on 10 carries, Kibble notched 15 yards on five attempts, and Tony Sherman charted five yards on two carries.

Clegg completed three of seven passes for 84 yards, while Boal had two receptions for 57 yards and Jordan Hatfield one catch for 27 yards.

Jason King led the defense with 12 tackles, Rader added eight, Michael Cantin and Joe Jenkins chipped in six, Jon Snyder and Alan Orr notched five, Clayton Peffers and Boal tallied three, Nick Curtis and Scott Coullard charted two, and Richard Gibson, Jim Hammons, Jared Mayering, Jordan Hatfield, and Roury Templeton marked one each. King, Rader and Boal recovered fumbles and Kibble, Boal, and Orr had interceptions.

Pickford travels to Hillman to battle the Tigers Friday, September 2.
