Grayson Hood Engadine made the six-hour, round-trip bus ride to Atlanta and after a solid effort on offense and defense the Eagles came away with a 30-0 non-conference win over the Huskies Friday, August 26.

"I was pleased with our effort on both sides of the ball," said Eagles Coach Howard Hood. "The senior leadership and interior line play were keys for us, but overall, the balance on offense and defense was the difference."

The interior offensive line includes Scott Butkovich, center, Jacob Swider and Doug Fulton, guards, and J.J. Troyer and Ron Weger, tackles.

The Eagles scored touchdowns in each quarter that included a 16-yard run by Paul Converse at the 2:34 mark of the first quarter, and a Stefen Albright to Grayson Hood pass completion tallied the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.

At 2:12 of the second quarter Albright to Todd Midgyett hooked up for a 21-yard scoring pass and Midgyett rushed for the two-point conversion and a 16-0 margin.

Albright and Midgyett combined for their second touchdown on a 34-yard pass completion, and Brad Visser chipped in the two-point conversion for a 24-0 lead with 8:03 remaining in the third quarter.

The Eagles final touchdown came on a unique play as Visser carried the ball 29 yards, but fumbled crossing the goal line, and offensive guard Doug Fulton lived out a lineman's dream, recovering the ball for the touchdown with 4:07 left on the clock.

Albright led the Eagles with three of six passing for 78 yards and rushed for 14 yards, while Converse gained 83 yards on six rushing attempts. Midgyett caught two passes for 75 yards and gained 42 yards on the ground. Visser rushed for 71 yards on 12 attempts. Sung Hart chipped in 47 yards, Hood tallied 27 yards and one reception for three yards, Mike Mast marked 18 yards, and Chris Keller counted three yards.

Hood led the Eagles defense with 10 tackles. Hart added nine, Dylan Duflo chipped in eight, Jacob Swider tallied seven, three quarterback sacks, and one fumble recovery, Visser, Doug Fulton, and J.J. Troyer charted five stops and two sacks each, and Midgyett notched five tackles.

Engadine will travel to Brimley to battle the Bays in an Eastern Upper Peninsula showdown Thursday, September 1.
