Bays Lose Big Lead, But Not The Game, 28-26
Brimley let a 14-point lead slip away before regrouping to post a 28-26 non-conference win over Powers-North Central Friday, August 26.
"Overall, I was pleased with our effort," said Bays Coach Brian Reattoir. "We sometimes over pursued, but we played physically."
Travis Lynn and Jeff Graham combined for a 39-yard scoring pass and Preston Parish added the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead after the first quarter.
Frank St. George scored from four yards out for a 14-0 lead before the Jets cut the halftime margin to 14-6.
Lynn and St. George hooked up on a four-yard scoring pass for a 20-6 lead, but North Central answered with two touchdowns to send the game into the fourth quarter tied at 20.
The pass combination of seniors Lynn to Graham for 61 yards and the two-point pass conversion to Parish proved to be the difference as the Jets scored a late fourth quarter touchdown, but missed the conversion.
Lynn passed for 179 yards and St. George rushed for 60 yards to lead the Bays offense, while Joe Quinn led the defense with 16 tackles. Darick Parish added 11 stops, St. George counted 10 with one fumble recovery, Nick Friez chipped in nine with one fumble recovery, Graham tallied eight tackles, Steve Phillips notched four, Tom Watchhorn marked three with two sacks, and Lynn chipped in two stops and one pass interception.
Brimley will entertain Engadine in an Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference contest Thursday, September 1.
