The Friends of the Engadine Library will meet Tuesday, September 20, at 7 p.m. to discuss the October Book Fair and after-school library activities. Come and join them. You may have some wonderful ideas that they can use.
Congratulations to Tony and Kimberly (nee Abram) Kalmbach on the birth of their son, Luke Timothy, who arrived in this world Friday, September 9, at a healthy 8 pounds, 3.4 ounces. Mother and son are doing great and so, I should mention, are the grandmothers. This is a first grandchild for Tim and Dawn Abrams. The paternal grandparents are Daryl and Deb Kalmbach. He was happily welcomed into the family. We wish them all the luck with their new family.
The Original Michigan Fiddlers Jamboree will be Saturday, September 24, at the American Legion Hall in Newberry. There will be entertainment from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., when they break for dinner and return later to the hall for square dancing. These are not professional players, just a group of people who really enjoy playing instruments and love music. Any kind of a "non-electric” instrument is acceptable to play with the group. Anyone can join the back-up players while the main performers are playing. The main focus is, of course, on those who play the fiddle. Anyone who can play an instrument is welcome to join the fun. Food is served at the hall by the ladies from the Tahquamenon Logging Museum. The day runs from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
September is Hunting and Fishing Month at the Seney Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge offers a variety of programs and activities on hunting and fishing. Scout Activity Day is Saturday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for lower elementary boys and girls. The Visitor Center and Marshland Wildlife Drive will close Saturday, October 15. You can call the Refuge at (906) 586-9851 for details and schedules. Fall is a beautiful time to drive through with all the trees in color and a great time to take pictures. The feel in the cool morning air reminds us that the time is drawing close, when that nasty white stuff will start to fall again. Enjoy our beautiful scenery while you can.
Happy birthday to Tracy Polachek September 15.
Happy anniversary to Mike and Nancy Bigger September 17 and Chad and Tracy Germain September 21. Hope you all have a great day.
Stay safe and stay well. See you next week.
