Bike Around Island Raises Funds

Twenty-seven bikers and 10 walkers took part in this year’s Bike Around Mackinac Island, which raised more than $3,000 for Michigan’s Special Olympians. The even was led by Mark Lloyd of Mackinac Straits Hospital.

Special Olympics Michigan offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their athletic skills through year-around sports training and competition in 23 sports. Athletes are competing in bowling, polyhockey, and bocce and will start volleyball in November and basketball in December.
