The first six-week marking period for the elementary will end October 7. Report cards for the elementary, grades kindergarten through sixth, will be sent home October 14. Progress reports for the high school students will be mailed home October 10. Good communication between the school and home is an ongoing commitment by Engadine Schools.

Preparation for Homecoming started September 27. This year’s theme is “Let’s Beat the Panthers.” The Homecoming football game is October 7, at 7 p.m., when our Eagles take on Pickford.

A traditional part of this celebration is Spirit Week, a period of five days preceding the big game, with each day devoted to student activities and dressing in a certain way. Classes earn points for these activities, their dress, and floats, with the winning class announced at half time of the football game.

Spirit Week is perhaps the most popular week of the school year for our students because it promotes school spirit and camaraderie, allows classes to compete with one another, and positively reinforces the school-community connection. Go Eagles!

If you haven’t had a chance to sample our excellent cafeteria food, make a date to have lunch with your student. Our cooks, Sandy Ketcher and Cheryl Hood, have made a real effort to produce a nutritional and delicious lunch. All parents are welcome to eat lunch with their students. Just call the office and make arrangements with the elementary or high school secretary. Your student will enjoy spending lunchtime with you.

The monthly School Board Meeting is Monday, October 10, at 6:30 p.m. in Gould City.
