Sweetest Day is right around the corner, Saturday, October 15. It is celebrated the third Saturday in the month of October. Sweetest Day observance originated in Cleveland in 1922. Herbert Birch Kingston, a philanthropist and candy company employee, wanted to bring happiness into the lives of orphans and shut-ins. With the help of friends, he began to distribute candy and small gifts to the underprivileged. Over the years, Sweetest Day has grown into a time to express love and appreciation to friends.
Bosses’ Day is Sunday, October 16. The beginning of Bosses’ Day dates back to 1958, when Patricia Bays Haroski, an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Illinois, registered it with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Haroski chose the date because it was her father's birthday, who was her boss.
Until next time, take care.
