Engadine and Rudyard posted non-conference victories and Brimley dropped a non-league contest Friday, September 30.
Eagles’ Hood Gains 212 Yards, Scores Record 6 Touchdowns
Junior Grayson Hood rushed for 212 yards on 19 carries and scored six touchdowns, tying a school record as Engadine snapped their two-game losing streak with a 54-14 non-conference win over Hillman.
Paul Kleeman scored six touchdowns in 1998 to set the Engadine High School mark and Hood joins the former standout with six touchdowns.

"I was pleased with our overall effort," said Eagles Coach Howard Hood. "Our offensive and defensive line played very well."
Paul Converse added 85 yards, Todd Midgyett chipped in 79, Brad Visser notched 29, Kris Kerbersky tallied 20, Sung Hart charted five, and Stefan Albright, returning to start at quarterback after missing two games, completed five of seven passes for 47 yards and rushed for seven yards. Dylan Duflo caught two passes for 23 yards, David Derusha two receptions for 21 yards, and Midgyett one catch for three yards.
Hood led the defense with 10 tackles. Converse added nine, Dylan Duflo chipped in seven and one sack, J.J. Troyer notched six with two sacks, Jacob Swider tallied five with three sacks, Visser marked four, Midgyett charted two with one pass interception, Scott Butkovich counted two with one sack, Shane Baker and Ron Weger recorded two, and Nathan Butkovich and Joel VanHise registered one.
The Eagles opened the first 12 minutes with a 16-6 lead as Hood scored one run of one and 35 yards and Albright ran in one conversion and passed to Duflo for the second extra two points.
In the second quarter, Engadine increased the halftime score to 32-14 as Hood scored on a 15-yard run and chipped in scores from eight and seven yards out and Albright and Converse added the two-point conversions.
Hood put the final touch on his standout game with a two-yard run in the third quarter and Midgyett closed out the offense with a 28-yard score in the final period. Albright completed two-point conversion passes to David Derusha and Midgyett.
Engadine will entertain Pickford in the Eagles homecoming contest Friday, October 7, with the kickoff set for 7 p.m.
Bulldogs Use Second Half ScoringTo Down Hurons
Rudyard scored 25 second-half points to turn a three-point halftime advantage into a 41-13 non-conference win over Rogers City.
Trent Salo scored two first-quarter touchdowns on runs of six and 15 yards and the Bulldogs added the two-point conversions, but the Hurons answered with two touchdowns and one extra point kick.
The Bulldogs defense scored two third-quarter touchdowns as Dan Bartley ripped the ball from the Hurons’ runningback and dashed 90 yards for a 22-13 lead and Jordan Gaskin intercepted the Rogers pass and scampered 25 yards to build the Rudyard lead to 28-13.
Mike Chantos and Brady Burby closed out the scoring for Rudyard with fourth-quarter touchdowns.
Owen McGrath rushed for 104 yards and completed seven of 11 passes for 87 yards. Chontos gained 95 yards, Salo tallied 60 yards on the ground and caught four passes for 50 yards, and John Rogers with three receptions for 37 yards.
Salo led the defense with 13 tackles and D.J. Hyslop and Gaskin added six stops for the Bulldogs.
Rudyard, 5-1 on the season, could clinch a playoff berth with a win over Arenac Eastern during a home contest Friday, October 7.
Bays Fall to Wolverines
Brimley fell to Mid Peninsula 44-28 during a non-conference game despite Seth Schofield’s 17-out-of-28 passing and four-touchdown performance.
The Wolverines led 44-8 at halftime after Schofield hit Jeff Graham on a 29-yard scoring pass in the second quarter.
Schofield and Graham hooked up on a nine-yard scoring strike. Cody Robbins had one scoring pass from 24 yards out, and Jordan Dillon on a three-yard touchdown pass.
Jerrod Dillon rushed for 79 yards. Graham had six receptions for 122 yards, while Jordan Dillon recorded 12 tackles, Steve Phillips chipped in 11, and Chris York notched nine for the Bays defense.
