Panthers Streak Continues

Pickford extended its winning streak to seven games with a 53-46 non-conference win over Rudyard.

Balanced scoring was one key for the Panthers as Chelsey O'Connor scored 11 points and hauled down 11 rebounds. Jessie Ledy added 11 points, four assists and four steals. Renae Reich chipped in nine points and five steals. Veronica Gough notched eight points and eight boards, Melissa Kucharczyk tallied six points, Caitlin Mortinsen charted five, and Kacey Nyberg marked three.

Amber Burton DeTour Corine Ross scored 19 points and Dana VanSloten added 13 for the Bulldogs. Kelli Koivisto chipped in seven, Aimee Doyle notched six, and Alisha Peake charted one.

The third quarter was another key for the Pickford as the Panthers turned a 22-22 halftime-score into a 40-30 lead with a 18-8 margin, and held on as Rudyard cut the final score to seven points with a 16-12 score in the final period.

Pickford, 7-3 on the season, led 15-8 after the first eight minutes before Rudyard, 4-4 overall on the year, sent the game into halftime tied with a 14-7 advantage.

Raiders Use Fourth Quarter

as Springboard to Victory

DeTour used a 14-9 advantage in the fourth quarter as the springboard to victory as the Raiders upended Brimley 48-45 during an Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference (EUPC) contest.

Pia Hoge scored 15 points and Kelly Tomlinson added 11 to lead the Raiders offense, while Erin Worden chipped in nine, Krystal Bosley tallied six, Amber Burton notched three, and Liz Lehman and Anne Goetz charted two.

Jenna Somes led the Bays with 15 points. Carrie Aikens added 13, Molly McIntyre chipped in six, Kayla Perron notched five, and P.J. Hopper and Katey Kingsbury both tallied three.

Both teams scored 10 points during the first eight minutes before the Raiders, 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the EUPC, held a 16-12 margin in the second quarter for a 26-22 halftime lead.

Brimley, 3-8 on the season and 0-4 in the league, outscored DeTour 14-8 in the third quarter to take a 36-34 lead into the final period, but the Raiders turned the game around with a five-point advantage to ice the win.

Comets Fall to HLC

Mackinaw City and Harbor Light Christian (HLC) battled to a 25-25-halftime score before the Swordsmen held a 43-18 advantage in the second half en route to a 68-43 win during Northern Lakes Conference (HLC) contest.

Katie Smydra scored 15 points to lead the Comets. Kristen Darrow added 10, Betsie Frye chipped in nine, Erin Sullivan notched seven, and Caitlin Spencley tallied two.

Harbor Light Christian led 15-10 after the first eight minutes before Mackinaw City held a 15-10 margin in the second quarter for a 25-25-halftime score.

The Swordsmen outscored the Comets 21-11 in the third quarter and closed out the game with a 22-7 margin in the final period.
