Whittney Kerridge Engadine Six area games were played Tuesday, September 27, with Engadine, Cedarville, and Pickford posting victories while St. Ignace, DeTour, and Rudyard suffered defeats.

Eagles Claw Black Bears

Elicia Derusha scored 18 points, added 11 rebounds, and six assists and Desi Derusha chipped in 16 points to lead Engadine to a 68-35 non-conference win over Big Bay de Noc.

Nicole Benoit notched nine points and seven boards, Christina Emery tallied eight, Whittney Kerridge and Shauni Rutledge both charted six, and Rose Paquin, Autumn Rose, and Tristina Browning marked two each.

Marcie Mason Cedarville The Eagles, 6-2 on the season, led 37-17 at halftime and outscored the Black Bears 31-18 in the second half en route to the win.

Trojans Outlast Vikings

Donielle Landreville scored 22 points to lift Cedarville to a 66-47 non-conference road win over Posen.

Lauren Izzard added 12 points, Marcie Mason and Jessie Duncan both chipped in eight, Lindsay McLeod tallied six, Emily Feldhake notched four, Kristen Duman charted three, and Kara Griffin marked one.

The Trojans, 8-1 on the year, trailed 29-27 at halftime, but outscored Posen 23-2 in the third quarter before both teams scored 16 points in the final period.

Panthers Down Comets

Ten players scored for Pickford as the Panthers defeated Mackinaw City 76-24 during a non-conference game.

Caitlin Mortinsen scored 16 points and eight rebounds and Chelsey O'Connor added 15 points and six boards to lead the Panthers.

Renae Reich chipped in eight points and four assists. Jessie Ledy notched seven points and four assists. Lauren Waybrant and Shannon Lewis tallied six each, Melissa Kucharczyk charted five, Kacey Nyberg marked four, Veronica Gough counted two points and five boards, and Chelsey Davenport recorded one.

Betsie Frye and Kristen Darrow both scored six to lead the Comets. Katie Smydra added five, Erin Sullivan chipped in four, Caitlin Spencley notched two, and Callan Martin tallied one.

The Panthers led 41-11 at halftime and held a 35-13 in the second half to post the non-league win.

Saints Fall to Emeralds

St. Ignace led 21-16 at halftime, but couldn't hold on as Manistique handed the Saints a 52-43 non-conference setback.

The Emeralds outscored the Saints 34-22 in the second half that included 13-6 in the third quarter and 21-16 in the final period.

Jenny Massaway scored 11 points to lead the Saints, while Ashley St. Louis added nine, Kelsey Cryderman chipped in eight points and eight rebounds, Stevie Gould notched five, Krista LaVake tallied four, and Sam Wyers and Joelle Sword charted two apiece.

Snowbirds Edge Raiders

DeTour stepped out of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference and dropped a 40-37 non-league game to Gaylord St. Mary.

Pia Hoge scored 10 pints with seven rebounds to lead the Raiders. Kelly Tomlinson added nine, Erin Worden chipped in six, Amber Burton and Liz Lehman tallied four each, and Anne Goetz and Krystal Bosley (six boards) notched two points each.

The Raiders led 14-6 after the first eight minutes before St. Mary turned the game around with a 14-4 advantage to take a 20-18 halftime lead, and the visitors from Gaylord held a 20-19 scoring edge in the second half.

Bulldogs Drop SAC

Contest to Chiefs

The first half was the difference as Cheboygan held an eight-point lead en route to a 54-47 Straits Area Conference win over Rudyard.

Cheboygan led 13-8 after the first eight minutes and held a 9-6 scoring edge in the second quarter for a 22-14 halftime lead before the Bulldogs held a 23-22 advantage in the second half.

Corine Ross scored 18 points and Dana VanSloten added 14 for the Bulldogs, while Megan Rogers chipped in six, Kelli Koivisto notched five, and Aimee Doyle tallied four.

Saints, Trojans JV Hoops

St. Ignace junior varsity dropped a tough decision to Manistique 48-45 as Desiree Nordstrand scored 12 points, Marcie Rickley added 10, Sunny Cole and Amanda Coveyou both chipped in eight, Jessica Massaway notched four, Alyssa Pechta tallied two, and Stacee Schnicke charted one.

Cedarville junior varsity downed Posen 48-29 with Caitlin Wright scoring 15. Billie McLeod added 12 points and 10 rebounds, Hope Deeren and Ashley Sweeney chipped in four, and Megan Hill, Katie Bowlby, Karley Smith, and Kacie Simpson notched two each.
