The circle of friendship was evident, not only by the number of cars in the parking lot, but by the line of folks waiting to receive the fresh-cooked fish, along with the side dishes that accompanied it. The occasion was the benefit dinner for Tom King, who has been in an ongoing battle with his health for the past few years. Trips to out-of-state hospitals are expensive and health insurance doesn't cover all the incidentals.

Sadness permeates our tiny towns as once again the phone rang with news of another of our residents passing. Lois Darknell, whose upbeat attitude and ready smile hid many of the health issues she dealt with, passed away Monday, October 31. Her family was in the process of making ready a new home for her to come to when she was released from the hospital. Condolences to her husband, Bill, her children, Theresa, Tim, Mitch, Elaine, Danielle, and many grandchildren.

Condolences to Jack Garavaglia and family on the loss of their wife and mother, Sandy, who passed away Monday, October 24.

Condolences also to the family of Red Rader, who along with wife, Jenny, lived out on Struble Lake Road.

Batten down the hatches, as we're moving into the winter season. The leaves have finally all blown off the trees, the last of the firewood is stacked, the temperatures are dropping, the nights seem to be approaching much earlier, and most of the snowbirds have headed south for warmer climates.

Birthday wishes abound. Great days are wished to a guy who is always willing to lend a hand, Harry Stephenson, who celebrated his birthday October 31. Happy birthday to Helen Fischer of Trout Lake and a neighbor, Kim Kerridge, November 1, our favorite ladybug, Brenda Albrecht, who is growing up way too fast, November 2, and Kristi Jackson November 4.

Continued get well wishes to the many folks in our area who are in various stages of getting better, from colds, flu, and more serious illnesses.
