Food Program Participants Must Sign Up for Card
Area residents who may be eligible for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) must sign up for a new program card and to be placed on a list to receive food for distribution. All cards issued before September are now expired.
In Mackinac County, the following enrollment sessions are scheduled: Thursday, November 3, and Friday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Action Agency, and Wednesday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Clark Township Hall in Cedarville.
Applicants must show proof of residence and proof of total household income. Applicants must meet the following annual income guidelines to be eligible for The Emergency Food Assistance Program: Single and under 60 years of age, $12,441; for each additional household member under 60 years of age add $4,238; single and 60 years of age and older $15,312; for each additional household member over 60 years of age add $5,216. For the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, requirements are: 60 years of age or older, annual income of $12,441; for each additional household member 60 years of age or older add $4,238.
Commodity cards issued to senior citizens or handicapped individuals will be specially marked so a friend or relative can pick up the food for the cardholder.
