DDA, Reavie Finalize Five-Year Agreement
A five-year renewal agreement was made between St. Ignace Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and St. Ignace Antique Auto Show producer Ed Reavie of Nostalgia Productions at the DDA’s regular meeting Friday, October 14.
The DDA will contribute $7,000 for each of the next five years to Mr. Reavie’s company in support of his annual summer events, such as the Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show and the Antique Auto Show.
The DDA will contribute five percent less to Nostalgia Pro-ductions for the next five years than it has under the old agreement.
Cost of trash pick-up during the events will be split three ways, among the DDA, Nostalgia Productions, and the City of St. Ignace. Each one will pay roughly $500 each year, said DDA Executive Director Deb Eva-shevski. Cost of trash pick-up last year totaled $1,800, which was higher than previous years, she said.
The DDA hopes to hear in December whether it will receive a $137,500 matching grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Trust Fund to extend the city’s boardwalk to the former Chief Wawatam dock.
The DDA and other area organizations will contribute $50,000 to the $227,500 project. Coastal Zone Management, ad-ministered through the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, will provide another $40,000. The Coastal Zone grant has received informal approval, Mrs. Evashevski said.
