The Thanksgiving holiday not only brought a variety of food to our turkey dinner, but brought us a variety of weather. The snowfall over the past weekend was like a postcard, picture perfect. After being “plowed out” one day, the following morning brought rain and that was the end of the picture perfect postcard. But, after all, that is Michigan. Frequent changes are a part of our weather pattern, which we have all learned to live with.
Are you getting in the mood for Christmas shopping? Coming up Saturday, December 3, is “A Village Christmas” in DeTour. Businesses and homes filled with artisans and vendors will be open for Christmas shopping. You may enter your name for a drawing at each place you visit. All the names will be put together for the Grand Prize drawing at the end of the day.
Maps will be available at the businesses. This year the Village Hall will have tables filled with Christmas and other items. Young children will be able to tell Santa what they would like for Christmas at the Dockside Café. There will be so many places to visit and different things to purchase for that special person, you will have to get an early start. You may shop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The DeTour Union Presbyterian Church will hold its Holiday Bazaar the same day, Saturday, December 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be homemade fruitcakes, jellies, and pies to purchase. Also available will be large, fresh wreaths.
As a reminder of the Christmas programs on schedule for December for the DeTour and Drummond Schools, the program for Drummond will be Thursday, December 15, at 6:30 p.m.
The Christmas program for DeTour is scheduled for Monday, December 19, at 6:30 p.m.

We were shocked and sorry to hear of the untimely death of Ralph Greenisen, a summer resident, who was involved in a car accident on his return to Ohio. Ralph died a couple of hours after the accident. Deepest sympathy to his family.
