AARP Seeks Aide Volunteers for 2006 Taxes
2005-12-01 / News
Volunteers are needed to help prepare taxes during the 2006 tax season in a Tax Aide program sponsored by AARP (American Association of Retired Persons). The program provides free tax counseling and preparation services to millions of low- and middle-income tax payers, with special attention to those age 60 and older.
Volunteers receive training in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service and the AARP Foundation before serving in the program from February through April 15.
“You don’t have to be a lawyer or accountant to help others through Tax Aide, just someone who wants to volunteer and has financial aptitude,” said Betty Shaw of AARP.
