40 Vendors To Display Holiday Goods Saturday

An old-fashioned Christmas will be celebrated in DeTour Village Saturday, December 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A Village Christmas will feature more than 40 vendors at 11 locations, all within walking distance of each other. Maps with locations and descriptions of some of the products are available now at businesses in DeTour Village.

The event is being organized by the Eastern Upper Peninsula Fine Arts Council, and will showcase the works of local businesses, as well as the talents of the Community Choir, which will sing holiday carols around the village.

Some of the items available include original watercolor paintings, pottery, jewelry, wood-carved sculpture, antiques, candles, silver, hand-woven baskets, original photography, fresh evergreen wreaths, scents, dried floral creations, and cosmetics. A miniature Dickens Village display will be set up at the DeTour Village Hall.

Participating businesses will offer price reductions and specials that day, like 20 to 50 percent off on clothing and other products. Restaurants will offer breakfast and lunch specials, and a professional Christmas portrait service will be available. Some of the area churches will sell baked goods, fresh-made doughnuts, homemade soup and bread, or evergreen wreaths as holiday fundraisers.

Most participating locations will offer refreshments and a door prize. Those making it to eight of the 11 participating locations will be eligible for a grand prize to be drawn at the end of the day.
