Pickford shot 61 percent from the field and 68 percent from the free throw line during a 59-35 non-conference win over Big Bay de Noc Tuesday, December 20.

Matt Romatz scored 19 points with 10 rebounds, eight blocked shots, three steals, and three assists, Kip Cline added 12 points and two steals, and Richie Boal chipped in 10 points, eight boards, and five assists to lead the Panthers.

Pat Savoie notched six points and six rebounds, Jon Clegg tallied four points, four rebounds, and two assists, Jon Snider charted four points, three rebounds, and two assists, and Clayton Peffers marked four points.

"I was very pleased with our overall shooting and play,” said P a n t h e r s Coach Vance Barber.

Pickford led 10-6 after the first eight minutes and turned the tide with a 14-9 advantage in the second quarter for a 24-15 halftime margin as Cline and Romatz scored eight points each.

"Big Bay tripled-teamed Matt, but that allowed the other players to step up," added the coach.

The Black Bears held a 14-13 scoring edge in the third quarter before Pickford outscored Big Bay de Noc 22-6 in the final quarter to pull away for the victory.

Pickford, 3-2 overall, is off until after the holiday break, when they battle Engadine at home and Cedarville on the road.

Raiders Fall to Cards

in Non-League Contest

The first half was the downfall for DeTour as the Raiders dropped a 58-49 home non-conference decision to Onaway Tuesday, December 20.

Nathan Klamerus scored 17 points with 16 rebounds, Tom Munro added 13, Craig W a s n i c h chipped in 12, Andy Doyle notched five, and Jordan Hartman tallied two for the Raiders.

T h e Cardinals led 17-9 after the first eight minutes and increased the margin to 30-19 after outscoring DeTour 13-10 in the second quarter.

Both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter before the Raiders closed out the game with a 19-17 advantage in the final period.

DeTour, 2-2 on the season, is off until consecutive road games with Boyne Falls and Big Bay de Noc after the holiday break.
