Bulldogs Home Winning Streak Ends at 42 Games

Trent Salo Trent Salo Visiting teams playing at the Harris Kahl Gymnasium at Rudyard High School have struggled dating back to the 2001-02 season, and 42 games later, the home winning streak ended as Sault High handed the Bulldogs a 71-53 Straits Area Conference (SAC) setback Tuesday, December 20.

Trent Salo scored a game high of 21 points for Rudyard, but was the only player in double figures for the Bulldogs and Coach Grant Ross.

Dan Bartley added eight points and 11 rebounds, Jeff Briggs chipped in six, Owen McGrath and Aaron Bertram both notched four, Adam Ireland and Jordan Gaskin tallied three each, and Zura Dolly and Travis Clegg charted two apiece.

A n d y P a n c h e r scored 20 points, Rob G u i m o n d marked 17, and Eddie James counted 13 for the Blue Devils.

Sault High led from the first eight minutes after taking a 15-9 lead and outscored Rudyard 24-15 in the second quarter for a 39-24 halftime advantage.

Rudyard, 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the SAC, held a 11-7 scoring edge in the third quarter before the Blue Devils closed out the game with a 25-18 margin in the final period.
