Success on Track Racing Adults for 10-Year-Old Zach Hiser

Zach Hiser of Jonesville, 10, the great-grandson of Morey and Frances Denton of Moran and Dora Hiser of St. Ignace, has had great success as a young auto racing prodigy.

The age minimum at most tracks is 14, but Master Hiser has been allowed to race at Mottville Speedway. He competes at speeds exceeding 60 mph in the Mini Thunder Class on the 1/4-mile oval in his 1984 Chevrolet Celebrity. He learned about race-car driving from video games and watching his dad race. He has two wins and ranks fifth of 23 mostly adult drivers in his class.

Zach is the son of Ed and Kristina Hiser and the grandson of Frank and Deb Hiser of Jonesville, originally from Moran. “They’ve been racing all of their lives,” said Mrs. Denton. “It’s a family thing.”
