45-Inch Pike Pulled in at Hessel
Mike “Jazz” Jaskiewicz of St. John’s hoisted this 45-inch pike from the waters around Hessel Marina Friday, July 8, at about noon. He caught the fish on a minnow, and released it about one-half hour later. He is vacationing in the Les Cheneaux Islands and has been fishing off the Hessel Marina pier, where people are reporting good catches of yellow perch, rock bass, smallmouth bass, and pike. Mr. Jaskiewicz said he has been catching pike and salmon. Marina staff reported that the largest pike caught all last summer was 38 inches.
