St. Ignace Golfers Defeat Bulldogs, 5th at Petoskey

St. Ignace success on the links continues with a 156-170 win over Rudyard during a Straits Area Conference dual match Tuesday, September 6, and a fifth place finish during the 22-team Petoskey Invitational at Bay View Friday, September 9.

Joe Brown and Tyler Mapes each carded 38's, Kyle O'Boyle added 39, and Brad Silet chipped in 41 during the four-player total. Drew Cope notched 45 and Curtis Hetherington charted 49 against the Bulldogs.

Rudyard was led by Jon Norton and Craig Wallis with 41's. Brian Smith chipped in 42, Paul DeWeese charted 48, and Tim Knutson marked 51.

Saints Fifth at Petoskey

St. Ignace was led by Joe Brown 80 (40-40), Brad Silet added 83 (44-39), Kyle O'Boyle 85 (43-42), and Tyler Mapes 85 (41-44) during the four-player total. Curtis Hetherington registered 91 (50-41).

Hartland won the championship with a team total of 310, followed by Cadillac at 321, Traverse City St. Francis 325, Rudyard 332, St. Ignace 333, T.C. West 334, T.C. Central 334, Big Rapids 336, Harbor Springs 339, and Frankenmuth 342 in the top 10.

Craig Wallis carded 77 to lead Rudyard, while Brian Smith charted 80, Paul DeWeese chipped in 86, and George Kinsella notched 89 for the four-player total, while Jon Norton marked 99.
