DeTour Overcomes Pickford in Key EUPC Matchup

Coach Dave Miller said before the season that with the veteran team of six seniors and six juniors it was time for his Raiders squad to post victories and Thursday, September 8, DeTour upended Pickford 53-51 during a key Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference match-up.

Krystal Bosley scored 14 points and Erin Worden added 12 to lead the Raiders. Pia Hoge chipped in nine points and 12 rebounds, Amber Burton notched six points and five assists, Kelley Tomlinson and Liz Lehman tallied five, and Anne Goetz marked two.

Caitlin Mortinsen scored 17 points for the Panthers, while Melissa Kucharczyk added eight, Renae Reich chipped in six, Jessie Ledy notched five, Chelsey O'Connor tallied three, and Lauren Waybrant, Kacey Nyberg, Veronica Gough, and Kaylynn Portice charted two points each.

DeTour held a 9-8 scoring edge after the first eight minutes and built a 31-17-halftime lead after outscoring Pickford 22-9 in the second quarter.

The Panthers bounced back to close the margin to 39-33 with a 16-8 advantage in the third quarter and pulled to within one late in the game, but the Raiders hung on for the one-point victory.

Raiders Fall to Yellowjackets

DeTour dropped a 52-40 non-conference contest to Vanderbilt Tuesday, September 6.

Amber Burton, Kelley Tomlinson, Liz Lehman, and Missy Ellis scored eight points each for the Raiders, while Krystal Bosley added six and Erin Worden chipped in two.

DeTour led 12-8 after the first eight minutes, but the Yellowjackets outscored the Raiders during the next three quarters, that included 15-10 in the second quarter, for a 23-22 halftime edge. They held a 29-18 advantage in the second half.
