Mackinaw City Picks Up First Win, 56-14 Against Alanson

Mackinaw City picked up its first win of the season in a big way with a 56-14 non-conference decision over Alanson Tuesday, September 6.

All eight girls scored for the Comets, led by Betsie Frye with 19 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals. Caitlin Spencley added eight points and seven boards, Erin Sullivan chipped in seven points, Katie Smydra tallied six points, six rebounds, and four assists, Allison Allen notched two points and three steals, and Callan Martin and Cheyenne Whithey charted two points each.

The Comets dominated the contest from the opening tip with a 13-1 lead after the first eight minutes and increased the margin to 26-5 at halftime with a 13-4 advantage in the second quarter.

Mackinaw City, 1-2 on the season, outscored the Vikings 16-4 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 42-9 and closed out the contest with a 14-5 score in the final period.
