An annual writing contest is open to all Upper Peninsula adults and students in fourth through 12 grades. Entries due by May 15 to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan Writers’ Association.

Adult categories are rhyming poetry, non-rhyming poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Youth categories are poetry, personal narrative, and non-fiction. Young writers will be classified as Division I (grades four to six), Division II (grades seven and eight), or Division III (grades nine through 12). Children who are home-schooled must be at least age 10 to participate.

Entry forms must accompany all submissions. Entry forms and complete lists of rules are available from area libraries or by e-mail at cklos@jamadots.com.
